What Equipment Should an Emergency Ambulance Have?
Not every vehicle with a siren is an ambulance. Before you book, ask what is actually on board.
Minimum for a basic emergency ambulance
- Oxygen cylinder with regulator, flow meter and masks
- Wheeled stretcher plus a scoop stretcher or spine board
- Carry chair for stairs and narrow lanes
- Suction machine
- Airway management kit
- Pulse oximeter and blood pressure monitoring
- Dressings, splints and a first aid kit
- Working air conditioning in the patient compartment
Additional for an ICU ambulance
- Transport ventilator
- Multi-parameter cardiac monitor
- Defibrillator
- Infusion and syringe pumps
- Emergency medication and intubation equipment
The part people forget: the crew
Equipment is useless without someone trained to use it. Ask whether a trained attendant or paramedic travels with the patient, or only a driver. That single question separates a real ambulance service from a transport van.
Every one of our units carries the basic list above, with ICU and oxygen units equipped further. Call 0326 514 3944 to ask about a specific requirement.
